LONELY MOUNTAIN COMPLEX

„Lately I’ve been a lot testing out compositions that combine fragments of cultural heritage with advertising imageries. Architectural monuments as well as scenic landmarks influenced this idea of attentional exploitation of aesthetics. Like tourists visit Dubrovnik for seeing the sceneries of King’s Landing (Game of Thrones) IRL, I tried to draw attention to the often ignored Galerie der Künstler’s painted ceiling and to interweave it with my crafted water circuit, that ran along the high billboard walls. The gallery is housed in a historically registered classicist building from the nineteenth century and is covered with angelic decoration elements, by then not yet as nouveau riche or kitschy considered, the figures represented a range of humanist values or characters that might be associated with biblical stories. To bring this idea down to earth I placed a metal merch gargoyle figure (that in a way is related to this ancient world, but historically little bit where else I know) on a fluorescent pedestal in which a computer calculated an operation over the time of the exhibition. The gargoyle being a fassade character, in my mind sits on the pedestal like king kong on the empire state building. All this is accompanied by a lot of transparent, bended acrylic plates in order to question a little bit the phrase ‚not all what glitters is gold‘ and by this my own naivety to fall for advertising, atmospheric narratives.“ TV
